THE JEFF SESSIONS 2/2

THE FABULIST* FOUR -- ALWAYS AT IT

* FABULIST:
A person who composes or relates fables
   A liar, especially a person who invents elaborate, dishonest stories

I hope folks rise up today.

Tuesday night (2/7) Senator Elizabeth was silenced for reading Coretta Scott King’s words on the Senate floor ... the same words that were delivered in 1986 against Jeff Sessions who was then seeking a Federal judgeship.

Back then, Mrs. King's written testimony, as required, was to be memorialized with all the documents that comprised the official record of that hearing --- but that didn't happen. Only recently was it discovered that the late Senator Strom Thurmond (the Senate's premier long running racist in residence) had ‘neglected’ to do that.

This secret injustice to Mrs. King took more than 3 decades to be rectified, but her testimony was recently retrieved from wherever it was NOT supposed to be and THIS TIME it was entered officially into Mr. Sessions’ new record as now he was the nominee for Attorney General.

Coretta King’s meticulously well written letter spells out the horrible truths about the aspects of Senator Sessions’ character that denied him that judgeship in 1986.

Then as now, as he aspires to be the United States Attorney General - the peoples’ attorney -  he is still at least as uniquely, transparently, overwhelmingly unfit for the position of AG as he was to be a judge so long ago.

So, last night Senator Warren began to read Mrs. King’s letter on the floor – it was now at long last part of the official record – and incredibly, Senator Mitch McConnell stopped her with Senate Rule 19- it’s language is about preventing a senator from impugning the motives or intentions or character of another senator, but it has only ever been used to rein in hot tempers and foster civility – not to censor speech, and especially speech about documents already admitted to the record... but Injustice won out again - this time against both Coretta King and Elizabeth Warren.

What's more, Senator Warren is now prohibited from speaking up at all in any way about Jeff Sessions for the duration of the confirmation hearings.

Sessions was probably going to be confirmed by the Republican majority all along - it has pretty much always been a done deal... so why not let Elizabeth Warren speak?

Although Coretta King has been gone for more than 10 years, thankfully, and deservedly, the vivid, fearful Alabama ghosts that her letter apparently conjures up must haunt Jeff Sessions - so much so that the classless punks who support him - and who will vote to confirm him - can't even bear to have her words spoken out loud.

So, then, this is the perfect time for Mrs. King's words rise up all around in many, many voices.... right?

I had also included Coretta's testimony in Part 1 of my Jeff Sessions post. I thought, of the multitude of evidence against him, her words spoke most powerfully and succinctly to who Sessions is, so I'm not all that surprised that some others would want to keep them from being spoken out loud.

Here is the letter again. Please share it everywhere…. call your senators .... rise up today and speak out. They won't dare silence you.
